I'm considering installing Windows 11 on my laptop using a Rufus-based hardware requirement bypass. The system has an 8th-generation Intel Core i7, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB NVMe SSD, so performance should be fine. The issue is that the motherboard is a factory testing unit and doesn't expose TPM 2.0. For people running Windows 11 on similarly unsupported hardware, do monthly security and bug-fix updates continue through Windows Update? What happens when a major annual feature upgrade is released?

So far, bypassing the TPM check generally still allows monthly security and quality updates to install normally. The bigger uncertainty is future policy—Microsoft could add stricter checks later, so there’s no guarantee that unsupported systems will always remain fully updated.
Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC may be another option to investigate because its hardware requirements and support model can differ from the standard consumer editions. Make sure the licensing and feature differences fit your use case before choosing it.
An 8th-generation Intel CPU normally supports TPM through firmware, often listed in the BIOS as Intel PTT. It’s worth checking for a BIOS update and looking for a PTT or firmware TPM option. If this factory testing hardware genuinely doesn’t expose it, then the bypass is your fallback.
There are warnings that any future update could fail if Microsoft adds a TPM or other hardware check. It may continue working for a long time, but you should treat the installation as unsupported and keep reliable backups in case an update or upgrade requires manual intervention.
Feature upgrades can be a different story. You may need to create a new installation or in-place upgrade using the bypass again when the next major Windows release arrives, rather than relying on Windows Update to handle it automatically.
