After a while, the laptop suddenly went completely black—no shutdown screen, sound, lights, or display—and it will not turn back on. The laptop's charging indicator also stays off when the charger is connected. The charger remains completely cold, although it has no indicator light of its own. The battery is built in, and I'm not comfortable opening the laptop myself. Could the charging brick have failed, or might the sudden shutdown indicate a problem with the battery, motherboard, or another internal component? The charger is one possibility, but the symptoms don’t prove that it’s the only problem. A laptop that instantly loses power while plugged in could also have a failed battery, charging circuit, or motherboard. Since the charging light never comes on, the first useful test is a known-compatible charger. Check the exact Nitro 17 model and wattage requirements before trying one; a random USB-C charger may not provide enough power, even if USB-C charging is supported. If you can’t safely test that, a repair shop or warranty service is safer than opening the machine yourself.
Try charging through USB-C only if the specifications confirm that the port accepts power input and the charger is strong enough. Some USB-C ports handle data or display only, and ordinary phone or tablet chargers usually cannot run a gaming laptop. If a correctly rated charger still produces no charging light or response, the fault is more likely inside the laptop, such as the battery, power jack, charging circuitry, or motherboard.
The charger staying cold isn’t a reliable diagnostic by itself. Laptop power adapters often don’t get very warm when there’s no load, and an internal failure can leave the outside looking perfectly normal. Because the battery is built in and the laptop is a gaming model with specific power requirements, avoid bending the cable further or using an underpowered adapter.
