I got a tiny amount of thermal paste around the edges of two pins on my Ryzen 5 5500X3D. I cleaned it with 70% isopropyl alcohol, then noticed that the alcohol contains moisturizer. Is the CPU likely damaged, or should I clean it again with higher-purity alcohol and let it dry completely before installing it?

If the thermal paste itself isn’t electrically conductive, a small amount near the pin bases usually isn’t a disaster. The safest approach is to remove any visible residue, use clean high-purity isopropyl alcohol if available, and wait until there’s no moisture left before installing the CPU.
Just leave it alone until it’s completely dry before powering anything on. You can place it in its plastic tray while it dries, and gentle airflow from a blower can help, as long as you keep the air stream light and avoid static or touching the pins.
It’s probably fine. The moisturizer is very unlikely to be conductive, but letting the CPU dry completely is important. If you can, clean it once more with electronics-grade or higher-percentage isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free tool, then give it plenty of time to evaporate.
I’ll let it dry and probably clean it again with better alcohol. All this worry started because I got a tiny bit of paste near two pins and assumed it might stop the CPU from working.
Would it be okay to leave it in the plastic tray while it dries? I also have a blower I use for cleaning my PC and was considering using it to speed things up.
