I'm putting together my first gaming PC and would appreciate a second opinion before buying the parts. The system will mainly be used for gaming at 1440p, including newer releases. Are these components compatible, and would you recommend any changes for better performance or value? CPU: Ryzen 7 9700X; GPU: Radeon RX 9070 XT; motherboard: Gigabyte B850M Gaming X WiFi 6E; memory: Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5 at either 6000 or 6400 MT/s; storage: Samsung 990 EVO; power supply: MSI MPG A850G 850W 80+ Gold; case: SAMA SV02; cooler: Cooler Master Elite 240mm liquid cooler. I'm located in the United States and would especially appreciate advice on memory speed, storage alternatives, cooling, and whether any parts are overpriced compared with similar options.

Don’t assume Corsair memory or Samsung storage is automatically the best choice. Compare the specifications and prices with other reputable brands, since cheaper memory kits can use comparable components. The 990 EVO is a decent SSD, but faster or better-value alternatives from companies such as Sabrent may cost less. For gaming, spending more on the SSD usually won’t make a major difference in frame rates.
For an AM5 gaming system, DDR5-6000 is generally the safe target. Ideally, look for a 32GB kit rated around 6000 MT/s with CL30 timings; 6000 CL36 is still reasonable. DDR5-6400 may work, but it usually offers little practical benefit and can sometimes require extra memory tuning.
Consider whether the Ryzen 7 9700X is worth the premium for your budget. A Ryzen 5 9600X, Ryzen 7 7700X, or Ryzen 5 7600X could deliver similar gaming value depending on current prices. If a Ryzen X3D processor is available for a comparable price, it’s also worth checking because the extra cache can help in some games.
The parts appear to be compatible, but it’s difficult to judge the value without seeing the actual prices. Prices and availability vary a lot in the United States, so compare equivalent parts from several brands before ordering. A complete parts list from a compatibility-checking site would also make it easier to catch clearance or fit issues.
The included 240mm liquid cooler should be adequate, but it may not be the best value. A quality dual-tower air cooler from Thermalright would generally be enough for this processor and avoids pump-related failure concerns. If you prefer an AIO, Arctic’s 240mm models are worth comparing because they often provide strong cooling at a competitive price.
The liquid cooler is currently included free with the processor, but I’ll compare its performance and installation requirements with a good air cooler before finalizing the build.
