I'm putting together my first gaming PC and would appreciate some feedback before buying. The current build comes to about £2,566 and includes a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, RTX 5080, 32GB of DDR5-6000 CL30 memory, a 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, and a 1050W power supply. I'm planning to pair it with a 4K monitor and want the system to last for as long as possible. I considered the Radeon 9070 XT, but I've currently settled on the RTX 5080. I've also noticed the Ryzen 7 9850X3D is only around £14 more, so I'm wondering whether that upgrade is worthwhile. Are there any compatibility issues, better-value alternatives, or other changes you would recommend?

A Radeon 9070 XT build could save a substantial amount of money, so it’s worth considering if value matters more than having the fastest option. That said, GPU pricing and availability are unpredictable, and the RTX 5080 may be the better choice if you want more headroom for 4K gaming and long-term use.
If you plan to keep the system for a long time, consider stepping up to an X870 motherboard. Features such as PCIe 5.0 support and Wi-Fi 7 could provide better expansion and connectivity in the future, although the current board should still work fine if you don’t need those features now.
For only about £14 more, I’d choose the Ryzen 7 9850X3D. The extra performance and stronger 1% lows make it a worthwhile upgrade, especially if you’re aiming for a high-end system that will stay useful for several years.
That sounds worthwhile for such a small price difference. I’ll probably go with the 9850X3D.

The discount is tempting, but I’m mainly trying to future-proof the build. I’m not sure how GPU prices will change, so I may stick with the 5080.
