First PC Build: Should I Choose the RTX 5060 Ti or RTX 5070?

I'm putting together my first PC and would appreciate feedback on the parts list. The build includes an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, ASUS B650E MAX WHITE motherboard, 32GB of Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR5-6000, a Crucial P310 1TB SSD, an 850W Montech CENTURY II Gold power supply, a white Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini V2 case, and a Cooler Master 360mm white liquid cooler. For the graphics card, I'm deciding between an MSI RTX 5060 Ti 16GB priced around $570 and a Gigabyte RTX 5070 12GB priced around $580. Since this is my first build and I'm trying to keep the total under about $1,800, which GPU makes more sense?

The extra 4GB on the 5060 Ti could help in some future games, but it doesn’t automatically make it the better card. For normal gaming workloads, the 5070’s stronger performance and wider memory interface are likely more useful than having 16GB on the slower GPU. I’d go with the 5070 unless you specifically play games that already exceed 12GB of VRAM.

At only about $10 more, I’d choose the RTX 5070. It should be noticeably faster in most games, and 12GB of VRAM is generally enough for current gaming, especially when the alternative is a slower card with more memory. The 5070 also has a wider memory bus and the triple-fan cooler should help it run cooler than the dual-fan 5060 Ti.

If you’re open to buying used, it may be worth checking higher-end previous-generation cards such as a 4070 Ti. An RX 9070 XT could also offer stronger performance for a similar price, but it may push the build beyond your budget. Since this is your first build and you prefer buying new parts, the 5070 is still the more straightforward choice.

I’d prefer a new card for this build, even though I don’t strictly need one. The used options I found around this price were mostly 4070 Ti cards, and I’m trying to stay within the roughly $1,800 total budget.
