I'm using Android 12 and want to remove WhatsApp's permission to display notifications as full-screen activities while the phone is locked. When I tap the setting, Android only explains what the permission does and doesn't provide a switch to turn it off. Is there another notification setting I need to change?

Try opening WhatsApp’s notification settings and checking its individual notification categories. If there’s a setting for calls, alarms, or full-screen notifications, change it from full-screen behavior to a normal alert. The exact option can vary by phone manufacturer.
Android’s lock-screen controls are usually separate from the per-app notification categories. In Settings > Notifications, look for options controlling sensitive notifications or notifications shown on the lock screen. You may be able to hide all lock-screen notifications, hide only silent or sensitive ones, or disable lock-screen notifications entirely. On some Android 12 devices, the full-screen access description itself cannot be revoked directly.

I checked the notification categories but couldn’t find an option specifically labeled for full-screen notifications.
