I just started my Windows 11 laptop and noticed several Command Prompt windows flash open and close immediately. I'd like to identify what is launching the .cmd files and stop them from disappearing long enough to see what they're doing. Where should I check first?

A brief Command Prompt window can be normal behavior from a background service, update, or maintenance task. If nothing is malfunctioning, it may be best to leave it alone—but investigate unfamiliar startup entries before disabling anything.
Rather than trying to keep the window open, check Windows logs. Open Event Viewer and review Windows Logs > System and Application around the time the windows appeared. Task Scheduler is also worth checking for tasks set to run at logon or startup.
Start by checking Settings > Apps > Startup and disable anything unfamiliar or unnecessary. Also look in Task Manager’s Startup apps section, since a scheduled task or updater may be launching the scripts.
