I built or bought a PC with an Intel Core i7-14700F, 32GB of DDR5-5600 memory, an RTX 5060 Ti with 8GB of VRAM, and a 1440p 240Hz monitor. However, games such as Forza, Rocket League, and Fortnite feel noticeably uneven, with frequent microstutters despite the system producing good frame rates. I recently played at an internet café and immediately noticed how much smoother that PC felt, so I know this probably isn't just normal high-refresh-rate behavior. My previous system, which had a GTX 1650 Super and a 144Hz 1080p monitor, also seemed smoother. I've already tried reinstalling Windows, using DDU, changing BIOS, Windows, NVIDIA Control Panel, and registry settings, reseating the RAM and GPU, and various other troubleshooting steps. What should I check next, particularly regarding VRAM usage, frame-rate limits, memory settings, temperatures, clock speeds, and background processes?

The first thing I’d check is VRAM usage. At 1440p, 8GB can become a limitation in some modern games, especially with high textures or ray tracing. Once the card runs short on VRAM, it may start relying more heavily on system memory, which can cause stutters even when the average FPS looks good. Try lowering texture quality and ray tracing, then monitor VRAM usage while playing.
