How Can I Unlock a MacBook When Half the Screen and Microphone Are Broken?

My MacBook's LCD panel is damaged, leaving the lower half of the display blank, and the microphones no longer work. I need to access this MacBook for another task, but I can't see the password field or hear any audio feedback. I'd like to connect an external display and mirror the screen, but I believe I need to unlock the MacBook before display mirroring will work. Is there a way to enter the password and unlock it using an external keyboard, mouse, or another accessibility option?

You may be able to connect an external display along with a USB keyboard and mouse, but the MacBook generally has to be unlocked before it will mirror or extend the desktop. If the password field is outside the visible portion of the damaged screen, try using the keyboard to move focus to the login field and type the password blindly. VoiceOver can also provide spoken navigation if it was enabled beforehand, though the broken microphone itself shouldn’t affect normal system audio through the speakers or headphones.

I can connect an external display and input devices, but I still need to enter the password first. I’ll try navigating to the password field with the keyboard and using headphones for audio feedback.
