I'm currently running a Ryzen 5 5600X with an RTX 5070 Ti and usually target around 4K at 100 FPS on an LG C4. I mostly play single-player, story-driven games rather than competitive titles. Am I likely to be bottlenecking the GPU significantly, especially when using DLSS? If I eventually upgrade the CPU, would moving to an AM4 X3D chip be worthwhile, or would switching to AM5 with DDR5 make more sense despite the extra cost?

For a 100 FPS target, the 5600X is still capable in most games. X3D processors are more compelling for very high refresh rates, competitive settings, or games that are known to be CPU-limited. Monitor GPU utilization with an uncapped frame rate: if the GPU is near full usage, the CPU isn’t holding it back meaningfully.
If you want to extend the life of the current motherboard, an AM4 X3D upgrade is the sensible lower-cost path. It can improve minimum frame rates and CPU-heavy games, but only buy one if the price is reasonable; paying a premium for a small improvement at 4K usually isn’t worthwhile. Moving to AM5 means paying for the CPU, motherboard, and DDR5, so it makes more sense as a complete platform upgrade later.
At 4K, the GPU will usually be the limiting factor, so the 5600X should be perfectly adequate for your setup. The main exceptions are CPU-heavy games with lots of NPCs, traffic, or simulation. Check CPU and GPU usage while playing instead of relying on general bottleneck estimates. If you’re already happy with your frame rate and smoothness, there’s no urgent reason to upgrade.
DLSS can change the situation because rendering at a lower internal resolution reduces the workload on the GPU. In particularly demanding games or busy areas, the 5600X may become more noticeable and could affect frame-time consistency or 1% lows. Even then, it’s more likely to be a game-specific issue than a major limitation across the board.

That makes sense. I’m happy as long as I can stay around 4K and 90–100 FPS, so I’ll probably leave the system alone unless I run into a specific game where the CPU is clearly holding things back.
