I currently have a Ryzen 7 5800X and recently switched to a higher-refresh-rate monitor, but I'm not getting as many FPS as I'd like. I'm considering upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5800X3D because my budget doesn't allow a move to AM5. I mainly play Warzone, Valorant, Counter-Strike, and Fortnite at low settings, and I'd like to game while streaming or sharing my screen at high quality. Would the 5800X3D provide consistently better performance, especially smoother 1% lows, and roughly how much more FPS could I expect?

The 5800X3D is noticeably better for gaming because its extra 3D V-Cache can improve frame-time consistency and reduce stuttering. The average FPS increase over the regular 5800X depends heavily on the game and your graphics card, so it may not be dramatic. For streaming, though, you probably won’t see much difference between the two CPUs; the 5800X3D’s main advantage is gaming performance, not encoding.
If the 5800X3D costs around $350 by itself, I wouldn’t consider it the best value for only a possible 20–40 FPS increase and smoother lows. An AM5 bundle with an X3D processor, motherboard, and memory could offer a larger overall upgrade, if one is available at a reasonable price. Since you’re on a tight budget and don’t have access to local bundle deals, keeping the 5800X and upgrading later may make more sense.
It’s hard to estimate FPS without knowing your GPU, resolution, and exact settings. In games like Warzone, Valorant, Counter-Strike, and Fortnite at low settings, you may be CPU-limited, but the improvement could range from small to fairly noticeable depending on the title. That’s what I was thinking too. I originally wanted a 7800X3D, but adding the motherboard and RAM would use up too much of my budget. I’ve heard about bundle deals, but I live too far away to take advantage of them.
