Windows 11 hides several of the older taskbar controls behind the quick settings panel, which makes switching between headphones and speakers unnecessarily slow. Is there a way to access sound output options directly from the taskbar without going through multiple menus?

You can create a shortcut to the classic Sound control panel and pin it to the taskbar. Create a batch file containing `mmsys.cpl`, make a shortcut to it, and change the shortcut target to run it through Explorer if Windows won’t let you pin the batch file directly. You can also give the shortcut a suitable sound-related icon.
Try EarTrumpet. It adds a taskbar volume control that makes it much quicker to choose the active playback device and adjust each app’s volume.
The built-in quick settings panel is still the default route in Windows 11, so a third-party utility like EarTrumpet is probably the simplest solution if you switch between headphones and speakers frequently.
