I'm looking for a way to trigger an emergency action on my Realme RMX3201 that would either securely erase the device or make it unusable to anyone else. Does an Android app support this reliably, or would it require root access or a different operating system?

Without root access or special system-level support, an app normally cannot reliably wipe or disable the entire device. A safer approach is to use Android’s built-in device-finding features, strong encryption and a secure screen lock, plus remote erase if the phone is lost.
A duress PIN or panic-wipe feature is usually built into certain security-focused operating systems rather than ordinary Android apps. GrapheneOS has options in this area, but it cannot be installed on this Realme model. Apps that intentionally brick a phone generally cannot do so without deep system privileges, and downloading an unknown APK for that purpose could create additional security risks.
Since this device does not support GrapheneOS, there may not be a dependable app-based option. Check whether the phone’s built-in security settings support remote locking or erasing instead.
