Is This $2,000 DDR5 Workstation Build Worth It in Egypt?

I'm a student in Egypt planning a new PC for Blender, light CAD work, and moderate 1440p gaming. I want strong multitasking and CPU performance, and I specifically need an NVIDIA GPU for CUDA and OptiX, so AMD graphics cards aren't an option.

Local prices are extremely volatile. This build was originally around $2,145, but the RTX 5070 increased from roughly $790 to $905 while I was putting the list together. The parts are an Intel Core Ultra 5 250KF Plus, Peerless Assassin-class air cooler, ASUS B860 motherboard, 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30, a 1TB Samsung 990 Pro, RTX 5070, 1000W power supply, and a Cooler Master case. I'm comfortable with DDR4 in principle, but the DDR4-compatible CPUs I can find offer noticeably worse performance for similar money. The listed memory kit is the cheapest 32GB kit I could find locally that wasn't below DDR5-6000.

I'm also considering buying a monitor separately for about $250. The cooler is only a placeholder, and I'll choose a suitable model under $50 if I can source one locally. Is this build reasonably balanced and worth buying despite the local pricing, or should I look for major changes such as a used RTX 4070/4070 Ti, a cheaper SSD or motherboard, or a different CPU platform? I'm hoping to avoid upgrading for roughly five or six years.

The RTX 5070 is the biggest problem here. At normal pricing it’s a sensible choice, but $900 is far too much for the performance. Since you need CUDA, I’d seriously investigate a used RTX 4070 Super or 4070 Ti, assuming you can verify its condition. A used card may offer much better value than paying the local premium for a current-generation model.

That’s what I’m leaning toward. The used market here is rough, but I’ll see whether I can find a clean 4070 or 4070 Ti at a reasonable price.

You can probably save money on the motherboard and SSD without affecting your workload. A midrange PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive should perform nearly the same for Blender and CAD unless you’re constantly moving huge files, so the 990 Pro is more of a luxury purchase. Also check whether the motherboard has an M.2 heatsink; if it does, the heatsink version of the SSD may be unnecessary.

The board does include an M.2 heatsink, but the non-heatsink version of the drive isn’t available locally. I’ll still compare other PCIe 4.0 drives if I can find one.

Don’t undersize the cooler. That processor can pull substantial power under sustained workloads, so use a reputable dual-tower air cooler such as a Peerless Assassin-class model, or a good liquid cooler if local availability makes that easier. The 1000W PSU is more than you need for this CPU and GPU; a quality 750W or 850W ATX 3.x Gold unit with a native 12V-2x6 cable should be sufficient. Just prioritize build quality over the wattage label.

I’ll try to source a proper dual-tower cooler rather than settling for an unknown cheap model. I’m also comparing reliable 750W and 850W units, although local availability makes some brands much more expensive.

The Core Ultra 5 250KF Plus is fine if it’s genuinely cheaper than the alternatives and you don’t expect to upgrade the platform soon. The fact that the socket has limited future upgrade potential matters much less if you plan to keep the system for five years or more. I’d focus on getting the GPU price under control rather than changing the entire platform.

That’s my thinking too. The 250KF Plus is currently available at a good price, and I’m not planning an upgrade for several years.
