I may be able to sell my current PC for around €650. It has a Ryzen 7 3800X, RTX 3080 12GB, Gigabyte B450M DS3H-CF motherboard, 32GB DDR4-3200 memory, and a 1TB Crucial P3 NVMe drive. I could then buy a newer system for €1,000, meaning the upgrade would effectively cost me about €350. The new build includes an Intel Core i9-14900KF, Gigabyte RTX 5080 Windforce SFF 16GB, Gigabyte Z790 AORUS PRO X, 48GB of Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5-7200 CL36, a 1200W ASUS ROG Strix power supply, Corsair 5000D Airflow case, be quiet! dual-mount CPU cooling, and a 2TB Lexar NM790 SSD. The deal is through a trusted family connection, so I am not mainly concerned about whether the price is genuine. I use a 38-inch 4K monitor at 100Hz and want to know what performance I can expect. Will this system handle modern games at maximum settings, and would it also be suitable for demanding virtualization workloads?

If the parts are genuine and the system checks out, €350 net for that upgrade is exceptionally good. Compared with your current PC, the 5080 should provide a major jump in 4K performance, while the 14900KF and 48GB of memory will be much stronger for virtualization. You should be able to play most games at very high or maximum settings around your monitor's refresh rate, although demanding titles may still need DLSS or frame generation. No GPU guarantees maximum settings at 100 FPS in every game, especially with heavy ray tracing.
For virtualization, the CPU has plenty of cores and threads, and 48GB is a reasonable starting point. Whether it is enough depends on how many virtual machines you run and how much RAM you assign to them. If you expect several VMs, containers, or memory-heavy workloads, moving to 64GB or 96GB later may be worthwhile. Enable hardware virtualization in the firmware and confirm that your chosen operating system and hypervisor support the setup.
Before buying, test the exact graphics card, memory speed, SSD health, temperatures, and stability under a combined CPU/GPU load. DDR5-7200 can be harder to run reliably than lower-speed memory, so do not assume the advertised profile will work perfectly without testing. Also confirm the GPU's actual VRAM capacity and model, since the listing's specification should be checked against the physical card and its software readouts.
The main thing I would investigate is the 14900KF. It can run extremely hot and earlier 13th- and 14th-generation high-end Intel chips had stability problems when motherboard power limits were too aggressive. Update the motherboard BIOS, load Intel's recommended default profile, and use a serious cooler with good case airflow. Also check exactly what “dual-mount” cooling means, because the cooler model matters a lot. A 1200W quality PSU is more than enough, assuming the cables are installed correctly.

The deal is through family and the machine will be tested before I pay, so I mainly wanted to understand the expected performance rather than verify the price.
