Is this PC build suitable for my dad’s everyday office work?

I'm putting together a replacement PC for my dad because his current computer has become noticeably slow. He'll mainly use it for regular office tasks and general day-to-day computing, not gaming. Does this build seem appropriate, or are there any components where I could save money or improve performance?

For normal office work, this should provide plenty of speed. I’d also make sure the system is protected from questionable downloads and accidental clicks, since that may have contributed to problems with the old computer.

That may have been part of the issue with the old PC. I’m planning to install an ad blocker—are there any other basic things I should set up for him?

If this is strictly for productivity, the build should be fine. Integrated graphics are perfectly adequate for documents, email, browsing, and similar tasks, but they wouldn’t be a great choice for serious gaming.

It’ll be used for productivity, so integrated graphics should be enough.

You could also consider a small-form-factor system or a mini PC. They take up less space and can be more convenient for basic office use, as long as the performance and upgrade options meet your needs.

It depends on what “office work” includes. Basic documents and browsing don’t need much, but tasks such as CAD can use a lot of memory, so 16 GB should be considered the minimum for heavier productivity workloads.
