I'm currently using an Intel Core i9-11900K with 32GB of DDR4 memory and an RX 9060 XT 16GB at 1440p. I'm considering moving to a DDR4-compatible motherboard and upgrading to a Core i7-14700KF or i9-14900K to avoid the cost of replacing my RAM and moving to an AM5 platform. Would the performance improvement be worth the expense, or should I keep my current system?

The 14700KF would be the more sensible choice than the 14900K for a gaming-focused upgrade. The 14900K costs more, runs hotter, and generally offers limited gaming gains over the 14700KF. However, moving from an 11900K still means buying a new LGA1700 motherboard, so compare the total platform cost against staying put or switching platforms rather than looking only at the CPU price.
At 1440p, the upgrade depends heavily on whether your 11900K is actually limiting the graphics card. Check your GPU usage and CPU thread usage in the games you play. If the GPU is regularly near full utilization, a newer CPU probably won’t make a major difference. If the GPU sits well below full usage while one or more CPU threads are maxed out, then the upgrade could improve frame rates and especially frame-time consistency.
I’m using an RX 9060 XT 16GB at 1440p, so I’ll check GPU usage and CPU limits in the games where performance feels low.
