Kubuntu Wi‑Fi Suddenly Stopped Working After Several Months Away

I was away from my Kubuntu PC for several months, and now its Wi‑Fi connection keeps failing even though it worked previously. The machine uses an Intel AX210 wireless card, and the compatible PCI driver is already installed. I've restarted NetworkManager, unloaded and reloaded the iwlmvm and iwlwifi modules, and removed and recreated the connection in System Settings, but nothing has helped. What should I check next, and could a recent kernel change be responsible?

Check the system logs around the time the connection fails. The kernel message output from `sudo dmesg` may show firmware, device, or authentication errors. You can also inspect recent files under `/var/log`; commands such as `ls -laFhtr` and `tail` can help locate and read the latest entries.

Running `dmesg` while reproducing the failure should be especially useful, since it may reveal the exact point where the wireless driver or firmware stops working.

Try booting into an older kernel from the system’s boot menu. A recent kernel update may have introduced a regression affecting the AX210 driver. Selecting a previous kernel is generally safe and doesn’t remove or change your current kernel; it’s a useful troubleshooting test.

A full reboot is worth trying if you haven’t already, rather than only restarting NetworkManager or reloading the modules. After rebooting, reproduce the failure and check `dmesg` immediately so the relevant error messages are easier to identify.
