Mouse Buttons Swapping and Apps Freezing Suddenly

My Razer Basilisk wireless mouse has been working normally for a long time, but a few days ago it suddenly started behaving strangely. The left and right buttons sometimes seem to swap, clicks do not always register unless I use the scroll wheel, and the controls feel generally unreliable. I updated the drivers and checked the Razer settings but could not find anything wrong. The problem may be affecting my whole PC too, since some applications are freezing or refusing to respond. I already performed a factory reset, but the issue is still happening. What should I check next?

Since the entire computer is glitching and applications are becoming unresponsive, this may not be a mouse-specific setting. Try disconnecting the mouse and testing another one, then check whether Windows still freezes. If another mouse has the same problem, look at system stability, USB drivers, storage health, and recent hardware or software changes.

Uninstall the Razer software and drivers completely, restart the PC, and test the mouse with the basic operating-system driver. Also try a different USB port or the mouse on another computer. That will help separate a corrupted software installation from a failing mouse or wireless receiver.

A factory reset does not necessarily rule out a hardware or driver issue, especially if the same software and settings were restored afterward. If the mouse behaves normally on another computer but the PC still has frozen apps, run system file and disk checks and review the system event logs for errors.
