MSI laptop connects to the internet, but Windows services and apps fail

My MSI GT62VR 6RE Dominator Pro connects to Wi-Fi, and some websites and applications work normally, but built-in Windows services such as the Microsoft Store and Outlook cannot connect. I have already tried various Command Prompt and PowerShell network commands, uninstalling and reinstalling the network drivers, running the Windows network troubleshooter, and factory-resetting the laptop several times. None of those steps fixed the problem. The laptop uses an Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 160MHz adapter and a Killer E2400 Gigabit Ethernet Controller, both reporting that their drivers are up to date. The same issue occurs on other home Wi-Fi networks, not just my own. What else should I check?

An external Wi-Fi adapter not changing the behavior makes a faulty internal wireless card less likely. The fact that normal websites work while Microsoft services do not could be related to Windows account services, certificates, proxy settings, or a damaged system component. Check that no manual proxy is enabled, verify the system date and time, and test whether the affected apps work with a fresh Windows user account.

Because the problem remained after several resets, I’d also check for software that filters or manages network traffic, especially security suites, VPNs, and vendor networking utilities. Temporarily removing or disabling those—not just turning them off—can help identify whether one is interfering with Windows services.

Since the issue follows the laptop onto other Wi-Fi networks, the home router is probably not the main cause. Testing with Ethernet would still be useful: if Windows services also fail over Ethernet, that points more strongly to Windows configuration, system services, or software on the laptop rather than the wireless adapter.

I had not tested Ethernet yet, but I’ll use a wired connection to see whether the same Windows apps fail there too.
