My iPad Air with the M2 chip suddenly stopped charging. The charger works normally with other devices, but the iPad shows no response when I plug it in. What should I try next, and could this mean the battery or USB-C port needs to be replaced?

Try another known-good USB-C cable and power adapter, then check the iPad’s charging port for lint or debris. Carefully remove anything loose with a non-metallic tool, or use a little compressed air. You can also force-restart the iPad and leave it connected to power for about 30 minutes. Since the iPad can charge your iPhone, it is receiving power, but that does not necessarily prove the iPad’s own charging circuit or port is working correctly. If there is still no response, Apple or an authorized repair shop should test the port, battery, and charging hardware.
I tried those steps and it still will not charge. Since it can charge my iPhone, does that mean the iPad battery is dead and needs to be replaced?
