I replaced my Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB after it began randomly losing video output and sometimes booting without displaying anything. I installed a GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 5070 WINDFORCE OC SFF 12G, and the system now displays an image, but Windows becomes extremely slow and unstable once the NVIDIA drivers are installed.
The PC shows a second boot screen with a spinning white circle that sometimes freezes, followed by slow loading. Videos can produce loud static, freeze, or turn the entire window green. Opening Windows Settings can also cause green display corruption. The computer works normally with the basic Windows display driver, and I already used DDU to remove the previous AMD drivers.
My hardware is an ASUS ROG STRIX X570-I GAMING motherboard, Ryzen 5 3600X, RTX 5070 OC, Corsair SF600 600W PSU, Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB NVMe drive, Seagate 2TB SATA hard drive, and an external WD Game Drive. I am using a Samsung TV over HDMI; DisplayPort does not seem to work. I also reset the BIOS to optimized defaults and tried enabling Above 4G Decoding and Resizable BAR, but enabling those settings resulted in no display. What should I check first to find the cause?

The green video, static audio, and problems that appear only with the NVIDIA driver can also point to a display-link or hardware issue. Try a different certified HDMI cable, another TV input or monitor, and a direct connection without adapters. If possible, test DisplayPort on a computer monitor rather than the TV. Disable hardware acceleration in the browser or media app temporarily to see whether video playback is the trigger.
Check the power requirements before assuming the drivers are the only problem. A 600W SFX supply may be marginal for an RTX 5070 system, depending on the exact card requirements, the CPU, and the power connectors being used. Confirm the card’s recommended PSU rating and use the proper dedicated cable or adapter rather than daisy-chaining connectors. Also make sure the GPU is fully seated and that every power plug is firmly connected.
Since the basic Windows driver works but the NVIDIA driver causes corruption and freezing, try installing the latest motherboard AMD chipset drivers first, then perform another clean NVIDIA installation. During setup, install only the graphics driver and PhysX, leaving overlays and extra utilities out initially. Also test an older stable NVIDIA driver if the newest one behaves the same.
The AMD chipset drivers are separate from the old Radeon graphics drivers, so removing the GPU driver with DDU does not replace them. Installing the correct X570 chipset package is worth trying.
Do not enable Resizable BAR blindly while troubleshooting. Start with BIOS defaults, update the motherboard BIOS if it is old, and confirm the system boots reliably with Above 4G Decoding and Re-Size BAR disabled. Once the driver is stable, enable those options one at a time. A full Windows reinstall is not automatically required just because the platform uses an AMD CPU, although it becomes reasonable if chipset, BIOS, and clean-driver tests do not resolve the issue.
I’ll compare the card’s actual power recommendation with the SF600 and verify the cabling. The system does at least boot and display an image, but the driver-related instability is still severe.
