PC Loses Display and Input After Extended Play in Certain Games

I built this PC about two years ago with fairly strong hardware, and it worked normally for a long time. Over the past few months, though, the display sometimes cuts out after an hour or two in Minecraft Java or Raincode+. The computer doesn't fully power off: audio continues, and I can still talk in voice calls, but the monitor shows no signal and most input stops responding. Minecraft is modded with Bliss shaders set near their lowest settings, and the issue seems more likely to happen while flying with an elytra, possibly during world generation. Other demanding games such as Cyberpunk, GTA, and Stellar Blade run fine at very high settings. My drivers are up to date, so I'm not sure whether this points to the GPU or something else.

Since the system keeps playing audio but loses video and most controls, the graphics driver or GPU may be hanging rather than the entire PC shutting down. Try a clean graphics-driver reinstall, then test with Minecraft completely vanilla and without shaders. If possible, monitor GPU temperature, hotspot temperature, clock speeds, and power usage while playing. Also try disabling overlays and hardware acceleration in launchers or voice-chat software.

The Minecraft problem started roughly three months ago, and it seems to happen mostly when I use an elytra. Raincode+ is a newer game, so I’ve only seen it happen there once so far.

Check Windows Event Viewer immediately after reproducing the problem. Look under Windows Logs > System for Critical or Error entries around the exact time the display cuts out. Kernel-Power, display-driver, WHEA, or hardware-related errors could help narrow down whether this is the GPU, power delivery, memory, or another component.

Running DISM followed by System File Checker is worth trying, especially if Windows reports corrupted files. Use DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth first, then run sfc /scannow. Since SFC found and repaired corruption, test the same games again, but also check temperatures and Event Viewer because repaired system files may not be the underlying cause.
