I'm trying to troubleshoot a system with an Intel Core i9 12th Gen CPU, an RTX 3060 OC, 32GB of RAM installed as two sticks, and a 650W power supply. I've already cleared the CMOS, tested each RAM stick individually, reseated the memory, and tried starting the system by shorting the power pins with a screwdriver. When I turn it on, the motherboard's debug LEDs cycle from DRAM (orange) to CPU (red) and repeat. After roughly 10 seconds, it stays on the DRAM light and never reaches the boot screen. Could the memory be faulty, or are the CPU or motherboard also likely causes? Is there anything else I should check before buying a replacement 32GB kit?

If the power connections and memory checks don’t help, the board may need a BIOS update to support that 12th-generation processor or the installed memory configuration. Many newer boards can update their BIOS using a flashback feature without RAM or storage installed, so check the motherboard manual for that process.
Make sure the 8-pin CPU power cable is connected near the processor socket. The 24-pin ATX connector alone isn’t enough to power the CPU, and missing that cable can cause CPU and DRAM debug errors.
I only connected the 24-pin cable, so I’ll check and connect the 8-pin CPU power lead.
Before replacing the RAM, work through a proper motherboard diagnostic sequence: test one stick in the recommended slot, try the other stick, confirm the memory type matches the board, and inspect the CPU socket for bent pins. Also verify that every required motherboard power connector is attached.

So I should download the newest BIOS for my specific motherboard and use its flashback procedure if it supports one?
