I've never owned a PC before and want a setup that can run games at least at 60 FPS. My total budget is £2,000 for the computer, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. I'm unsure whether building it myself or buying a prebuilt system would be the better option. If buying prebuilt is recommended, what should I look for so I don't overpay?

Check open-box or discounted prebuilts from reputable local retailers. You can sometimes find excellent hardware for the money, especially if you’re patient and compare several listings. Just make sure the warranty and return policy are solid.
A prebuilt may currently offer better value and is definitely easier for a first-time PC owner. However, inspect the specifications carefully. Some systems use very cheap power supplies, basic motherboards, slow storage, or components with poor cooling, even when the headline parts look impressive. They may also include unnecessary software, often called bloatware.
Building your own gives you more control over the parts, lets you shop around for deals, and ensures the power supply, cooling, storage, and memory are all good quality. It can be intimidating at first, but there are plenty of beginner-friendly build guides. The best choice depends on the games you play, your target resolution, and whether you value convenience more than customization.
