Should I choose a quality 750W PSU or an 850W model for a Ryzen 5 7600 and RX 7900 XT?

I'm building a system with an XFX MERC RX 7900 XT and a Ryzen 5 7600, and I need to choose a new power supply. My budget includes some Tier A 750W units, such as the Corsair RM750x, as well as Tier B 850W models. There's also a 1STPLAYER NGDP 850W unit that appears to be Tier A and fits my budget, but I'm unfamiliar with the brand. The graphics card lists 750W as the recommended system power, though I'd prefer some extra headroom for power spikes. Is a high-quality 750W unit sufficient, or would the 850W option be the safer choice?

A good-quality 750W PSU should run this combination without trouble, especially with a Ryzen 5 7600. The 7900 XT’s recommendation already accounts for typical system power, and many decent 750W units handle the card successfully. Quality, protections, and the specific platform matter more than the brand name alone, though warranty support is still worth considering.

The 1STPLAYER unit has a 10-year warranty, so I’m leaning toward that 850W model since it gives me more cushion while staying within budget.

I’d choose a reputable 850W unit if the price is close. The extra capacity gives you more room for transient GPU spikes, future upgrades, and quieter operation under load. That said, 850W isn’t strictly required: a Fractal Design Ion Gold 750W has been running a 7900 XT reliably, even with the power limit raised by 10%.

The 1STPLAYER NGDP 850W could be a reasonable pick if independent testing confirms its voltage regulation, protections, ripple, and transient response. A trustworthy review from a proper PSU tester is more useful than the tier label by itself.
