Should I Choose the Ryzen 7 9700X or 7800X3D Gaming PC Bundle?

I'm building a new gaming PC and am comparing two processor, motherboard, and memory bundles. I plan to pair the system with either a Radeon RX 9070 16GB or RX 9070 XT 16GB. Gaming will be the main use, with possibly some light streaming.

The $699.99 bundle includes a Ryzen 7 9700X, Gigabyte B650 Gaming X AX V2 motherboard, and 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory.

The $749.99 bundle includes a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, ASUS B650E MAX Gaming WiFi motherboard, and 32GB of DDR5-6000 memory.

Which bundle would be the better choice for gaming, and does the recommendation change depending on whether I choose the RX 9070 or RX 9070 XT?

For a gaming-first build, I’d go with the $749.99 7800X3D bundle. Its 3D V-Cache generally gives it an advantage in gaming, and the bundle is only $50 more. That recommendation applies whether you choose the RX 9070 or the RX 9070 XT. The 9700X bundle could make more sense if you were prioritizing heavier productivity workloads, but for gaming the 7800X3D is the better fit.

Gaming is definitely the priority, so that makes the 7800X3D bundle sound like the safer choice. I hadn’t noticed the motherboard differences either.

The 7800X3D bundle is the stronger gaming option, and its B650E motherboard includes PCIe 5.0 support for the primary graphics slot. PCIe 5.0 is not a major performance factor with these cards right now, but it does provide some extra upgrade flexibility. The RX 9070 XT does not require a different CPU recommendation—the 7800X3D remains the better pairing for a gaming-focused system.
