I'm trying to install LibreOffice, but Windows is prompting me to leave S mode. There’s usually little benefit to keeping S mode on a home computer unless you specifically want the extra restrictions and simplified app installation. Just keep an eye on your storage: 238 GB can fill up quickly, so remove programs you don’t use and keep important files backed up.
LibreOffice may be available through the Microsoft Store, so you might be able to install it without leaving S mode. However, if you need other desktop applications that aren’t offered there, switching out of S mode is reasonable for a personal laptop. Download software only from reputable sources and keep Windows Security enabled.
This is S mode, not Windows Safe Mode. S mode restricts installations to apps from the Microsoft Store and is mainly intended for simpler, more controlled devices. Switching out of it gives you the regular Windows 11 Home experience and lets you install trusted programs from their official websites.
