I'm planning a PC upgrade but I'm not sure what my current system can support or which parts should take priority. My build has a Ryzen 7 3700X, 16GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, a GTX 1660 Ti, an MSI B550 Gaming Plus motherboard, and an NZXT H510 case. My GPU budget is around $500–$700, and I'm considering an AMD Radeon RX 9070 Challenger priced around $650. Would my CPU, RAM, power supply, or anything else hold that GPU back enough to make it a poor upgrade? Should I buy the graphics card first, or focus on upgrading the whole system?

The GPU is easily the biggest performance upgrade from a GTX 1660 Ti, so I’d start there. The Ryzen 7 3700X shouldn’t severely limit an RX 9070 in most games, especially at 1440p, although the CPU would be the next part worth replacing later. Just make sure your power supply has enough wattage and the correct connectors, and check that the card fits comfortably in the H510 case.
Be careful with the RAM arrangement. Adding a third 8GB stick usually isn’t better than using two matched sticks, since it can interfere with dual-channel operation or memory stability. Ideally, use two identical modules in the motherboard’s recommended A2 and B2 slots. If you want more capacity, replacing the current kit with a matched 2x16GB kit would be cleaner than mixing three or four unrelated sticks.
A $650 RX 9070 is a reasonable upgrade for this system. You may see some CPU limits in high-refresh 1080p gaming, but that doesn’t make the card a bad purchase. At 1440p or higher, the GPU will usually be the limiting component. After upgrading it, you can move to a newer CPU supported by the B550 board—such as a Ryzen 7 5700X3D—if certain games still show CPU bottlenecks.
Before buying, confirm the exact power-supply model and capacity. The motherboard and case are generally fine, but an older or undersized PSU could be a more immediate concern than the processor.

If you already have two working 8GB sticks, keep those as a matched pair rather than adding the spare. A new 2x16GB kit only makes sense if you regularly need more than 16GB or the existing memory is damaged.
