I installed Fedora 44 on my notebook for university coursework. The touchpad works normally on the login screen, but it automatically becomes disabled immediately after I sign in. I can't use the laptop properly without it. Has anyone experienced this, and is there a terminal command or setting I can use to diagnose and fix it?

First, try the laptop’s touchpad toggle shortcut. It’s usually one of the function keys with a touchpad icon, sometimes used together with Fn. Pressing it may have disabled the touchpad after login.

Check the desktop settings for an option like “Disable touchpad while typing” or a general touchpad enable/disable switch. If the keyboard shortcut doesn’t help, connect a USB mouse and verify that the touchpad is enabled under Settings > Mouse & Touchpad.

More hardware details would help, especially the notebook model, desktop environment, and whether Fedora detects the touchpad after login. You can check the session logs and kernel messages for input-device errors with commands such as `journalctl -b` and `sudo libinput list-devices`. Comparing the output before and after login may show whether the device is being disabled by a setting or driver issue.
