I'm looking to replace my Radeon RX 7600 with something stronger for newer games. My budget is around $300, although I could also sell the RX 7600 if that makes a better upgrade possible. My current system has a Ryzen 7 5800XT, a B550 TUF Gaming motherboard, and the RX 7600. I'm staying on AM4 for now but expect to move to AM5 sometime next year. Should I buy new, look for a used card, or wait?

I’d avoid buying a new RTX 5050 specifically as an upgrade from the RX 7600, since the performance difference may not justify the cost. If you can sell your current card for around $200–$250 and add your budget, look for a substantially faster card in the roughly $450–$500 range, such as a newer midrange model or a strong used option. Otherwise, waiting for a better deal is probably smarter than spending $300 for a small improvement.
At roughly $300, the used market is probably your best option. A used RX 6700 XT or a similar card could offer more performance, but check the card’s condition and make sure your power supply has enough capacity. A used RTX 3080 is another possibility, though it uses considerably more power and should only be considered if your PSU and case airflow are up to the task.
Definitely include the resale value of your RX 7600 in the upgrade budget. Selling it could bring the total amount closer to the range where a genuinely faster card makes sense. New cards around $300 may perform similarly to what you already have, so they would be more of a sidegrade than an upgrade. Local classifieds and general online marketplaces are common places to sell, but use protected payment methods when possible and meet safely.
