I'm building a system around a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and an RTX 5070 Ti, and I'll be using two NVMe SSDs. I want a motherboard that lets me get the most out of the combination without overspending. I'd prefer ASUS, but I'm open to other brands and would appreciate recommendations for suitable B850, X870, or comparable boards.

Any reputable B850 board with a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot should be enough. If you specifically want ASUS, the ROG Strix B850-F Gaming WiFi is worth considering when it’s discounted. Make sure the board has enough M.2 slots and check whether using both NVMe drives disables or shares bandwidth with other ports.

The ASUS TUF B850 is a good choice if you want to stay with ASUS. If I were buying again, I’d probably spend a little extra on the MSI B850 Tomahawk. An X870 board generally isn’t necessary unless you need additional USB connectivity or other specific expansion features.

You probably don’t need an expensive flagship board for this setup. A solid B850 model around $200 should handle the 9800X3D and 5070 Ti easily. The Gigabyte B850 Aorus Elite and MSI B850 Tomahawk Max are both strong options. ASUS boards can work well, but they often cost more and their support reputation isn’t great.

The Gigabyte Aorus Elite X870 has been reliable with my 9800X3D. It handles the processor without any issues, so an X870 model is also a safe option if its extra connectivity and features are useful to you. Otherwise, a good B850 board should provide essentially everything this build needs.
