I run a small coaching centre with four batches of about 20 students each. My current printer has started having problems, so I'm looking for a replacement. I regularly print tests, question papers, assignments, and practice worksheets, mostly from PDF files. The workload gets much heavier before exams. I'm considering the HP Smart Tank 750 because automatic duplex printing would be useful for longer documents. Would it be suitable for this volume, or would a different type of printer be a better choice? My priorities are sharp text, reliable performance during larger print runs, and reasonable running costs.

The Smart Tank’s refillable ink system should be much more economical than cartridge-based ink, and duplex printing will save a lot of paper. It could work for your centre, but I’d check its recommended monthly volume and how quickly it prints several dozen pages at once. A business-oriented Brother laser printer with duplex support may be a better fit if most pages are plain black text.
The biggest decision is whether you actually need colour. If nearly everything is text-based PDFs, a laser printer is probably the more practical choice. If you need colour diagrams or worksheets, a tank-style inkjet can make sense, but compare the cost per page, replacement ink prices, print speed, and duty cycle across models before buying.
For mostly black-and-white documents, I’d strongly consider a monochrome laser printer. It will generally print faster than an inkjet, handle larger batches better, and avoid some of the drying and maintenance issues associated with ink. Look for a model with automatic duplex printing and a paper tray that’s large enough for your regular workload.
