I'm 28 and have played on consoles my entire life. I recently bought the latest Logitech racing wheel, pedals, and shifter, but I still need a gaming PC for iRacing. My budget is around $1,500, though I could potentially spend up to $2,000 if it makes a meaningful difference. I'm buying in the United States and can travel to the Indianapolis Micro Center if that helps with parts or bundles. I don't have any specific preferences for appearance or case size. I already own monitors and two Meta Quest 3 headsets, and I'm wondering whether a PC suitable for iRacing can also handle VR with the Quest 3. I'd appreciate recommendations for parts or a prebuilt system that offers good performance without overspending.

A $1,500 build should be plenty for iRacing, especially if you already have monitors. I’d focus the budget on a modern gaming CPU, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB NVMe SSD, and a mid-to-upper-range graphics card. A Micro Center CPU, motherboard, and RAM bundle could save a lot, so it’s worth checking what they have in Indianapolis. You don’t need an expensive-looking case or extra RGB parts; put that money toward the GPU and a reliable power supply.
The Meta Quest 3 can work for iRacing through a PC, but VR is much more demanding than playing on a regular monitor. For a good experience, I’d aim for at least a strong current-generation GPU with plenty of VRAM, along with a capable six- or eight-core gaming CPU. You’ll also need a USB-C cable or a dependable wireless connection, and the PC should be connected to the router by Ethernet if you use wireless VR. If VR is a major goal, don’t spend the entire budget on a basic graphics card.
Since you already have displays, a balanced $1,500 parts list could include a modern Ryzen 7 or equivalent gaming processor, 32GB of DDR5 memory, a 1TB NVMe drive, and a graphics card in the upper-midrange class. Add a quality 750W power supply and a case with good airflow. iRacing itself is not extremely difficult to run on a monitor, but large grids, high settings, and Quest 3 VR will benefit from the stronger GPU. A prebuilt is fine if you compare the exact components and make sure it doesn’t use a weak power supply or single-stick memory.
