The official VMware Virtual Disk Development Kit download links do not appear to work, even though I have a Broadcom account. The current SDK page also does not list the latest version, which I expected to be available for download.
Has VDDK been withdrawn, or is there another legitimate way to obtain it? I specifically need it for a Windows Admin Center extension and would appreciate advice on compatible versions or alternatives.

One possible source is an existing Veeam Backup & Replication installation. It includes several VMware VDDK builds under its Backup Transport directory, including 6.0, 6.7, and 7.0 on Windows. The files include libraries such as vixDiskLib.dll and vixMntapi.dll, although they are packaged and signed by Veeam rather than distributed as a standalone VMware SDK.
Broadcom support confirmed that VDDK is no longer available for general download or use. Their current position is that backup and recovery products should use integrations from authorized technology partners instead. Unfortunately, that makes testing the Windows Admin Center extension much more difficult.
That is disappointing. I received essentially the same response when I asked for it for the same Windows Admin Center use case.
This appears to be a broader publishing problem rather than an issue with your account. The VDDK documentation and release-note pages reference downloads that currently do not resolve, so other users are seeing the same behavior.
I tried that approach, but simply copying those files does not seem to satisfy the converter I need to use.
