I'm building a budget gaming PC with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and an RTX 5070 Ti, and I'm choosing between two motherboards. The ASUS TUF B650M-E WiFi has an 8+2+1 power design but appears to offer a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for the graphics card. The ASRock B850M-X WiFi 7 has a weaker-looking 6+1+1 power design but includes PCIe 5.0 x16. I'm worried that using the 5070 Ti in a PCIe 4.0 slot could reduce performance, while I'm also concerned the ASRock board might not deliver enough power during demanding games or CPU-heavy workloads. I'm new to PC building, so which option makes more sense?

The power-phase ratings shouldn’t be a concern here. A Ryzen 7 7800X3D doesn’t draw enough power for either board to struggle at stock settings, even during demanding games. Those differences matter more with very power-hungry CPUs or aggressive overclocking, not this processor.
Either motherboard should handle this combination well. PCIe 4.0 won’t meaningfully limit an RTX 5070 Ti; even much faster cards generally lose little to nothing compared with PCIe 5.0 in normal gaming. Also, double-check the ASUS model, because some B650E boards provide PCIe 5.0 for the graphics slot anyway.
Both are likely usable, but the better choice depends on their prices and what’s available in your country. I’d prioritize BIOS quality, cooling on the VRMs, memory support, rear I/O, and warranty rather than choosing solely based on PCIe 4.0 versus 5.0 or the advertised phase count.
