I'm planning a new full-size gaming PC and would like recommendations for an Intel motherboard with strong BIOS and software-based tuning for the CPU and memory, plus fan and cooling management. Automatic or pre-tuned profiles would be useful, although I'm open to manual overclocking as well.
My previous MSI motherboard had convenient switchable performance profiles and memory tuning features, but after moving to Australia, my CPU and RAM overclocks stopped working. Any attempt to enable them now causes a reboot or lockup, requiring the BIOS to be reset to safe defaults. The power supply is rated for both 110V and 240V; I only replaced the power cable for the local wall outlet.
For the new build, I want a board that supports high-end Intel processors and fast consumer memory, with some upgrade flexibility. I may start with a less expensive CPU and RAM, but would like the option to move to faster parts later. The system will use an Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti Super, so onboard graphics are not important.
My preferred features include at least four DIMM slots, three or preferably four M.2 slots for my existing SSDs, onboard USB 3, wired networking, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and good cooling-control software. I would also appreciate recommendations for reliable brands and specific models, along with comparison reviews from reputable hardware sites.

The ASUS ROG Maximus Z890 Hero would be a strong high-end option to investigate. It offers extensive BIOS controls, automatic tuning features, cooling management, and a mature feature set. The main drawback is its price, so compare its storage layout, memory support, and connectivity against less expensive boards before committing.
Which Intel CPU are you planning to use, and is this mainly for gaming? The exact processor matters because motherboard support and overclocking options vary by platform.
I would be cautious with automatic or pre-tuned profiles. Manual tuning usually gives you better control and often better results, though a tested profile can be a convenient starting point. Also, mainstream Intel platforms generally support four DIMM slots, but using all four can reduce memory-overclocking headroom. A two-slot board is often better for pushing memory speeds.
It is also worth keeping expectations realistic about future-proofing. Intel has frequently changed sockets between generations, so a later desktop CPU may require a new motherboard anyway. Within one generation, upgrading to a faster processor is possible, but it is not always the best value for a gaming system. Keeping some of the budget available for a future platform upgrade may be more useful.
I haven't settled on a specific CPU yet, but I'm considering a newer Intel Core i7 or similar. I understand that manual tuning may be more precise, but the automatic profiles on my previous MSI board saved a lot of time and provided a worthwhile improvement.
