Why did a group chat show a message about talking to someone you trust?

Today, I noticed a message at the bottom of an existing group chat saying, "Talk to someone you trust if you feel uncomfortable or need help," followed by a link to information about getting support. The chat includes two adults and one teenager, and I'm wondering what could have triggered it. Has anyone else seen this message?

It’s probably an Apple safety notice related to its Communication Safety features. A sensitive image may have been detected, or someone may have sent text that the system interpreted as concerning. The feature is especially relevant when a minor is part of the conversation.

This can sometimes be triggered by content sent in the group, even if the person who saw the warning didn’t send it themselves. Checking which device and account displayed the notice may help identify what caused it.

Apple has documentation explaining these warnings and what can trigger them. They don’t necessarily mean someone reported the chat or that anything harmful definitely happened—the system may simply have detected potentially sensitive content.
