My gaming laptop delivers higher FPS and smoother gameplay while running on battery, but plugging in the charger causes frame drops and noticeable stuttering. The original battery failed and has already been replaced. I'm using the laptop's original charger, and the power settings are currently set to High Performance. What could be causing the plugged-in performance to be worse?

The replacement battery may be the main suspect, especially since it isn’t genuine. Even if its listed specifications match the original, the battery or charging circuitry may not deliver enough power while charging. That can cause the system to throttle or behave erratically under gaming loads.
Try using Balanced mode for both battery and plugged-in operation instead of High Performance. Some laptops handle CPU boosting poorly under that profile, which can lead to unstable clock speeds and worse performance. Balanced mode can sometimes produce smoother results.
Check whether the laptop changes resolution, refresh rate, GPU selection, or another graphics setting when switching between battery and AC power. Also compare CPU and GPU clock speeds in both modes. If the clocks drop only while plugged in, the issue is likely related to a power profile, charging controller, or the replacement battery rather than the charger itself.
