My laptop is estimating that downloading a 49 MB file will take several hours, even though my Wi-Fi seems to be working normally. What could cause such a slow download, and how can I figure out whether the problem is my laptop, connection, or the server hosting the file?

It could also be a laptop-side issue, such as a weak wireless adapter signal, background downloads, VPN or security software scanning the file, or a network driver problem. Check whether other devices on the same Wi-Fi have normal speeds and look at your laptop's current network usage.
If other downloads and speed tests look normal but this particular file is crawling, the server sending it may be overloaded or deliberately limiting download speeds. Try another file or mirror to see whether the issue is specific to that source.
You need to check the actual download speed instead of just saying the Wi-Fi is fine. A 10 Mbps connection is roughly 1 MB per second, so a 49 MB file should normally finish in under a minute. If the speed is much lower, run a connection speed test and compare the result with the download rate.
