My HP Victus 15 has an 11th-generation Intel Core i5, 16GB of RAM, an RTX 4050, and a 512GB SSD. It used to run normally, but after setting up a Linux dual boot, WSL, and the MuMu Android emulator—and disabling some Hyper-V features—I've started having serious memory and stability problems in Windows. Minecraft with only a few mods crashes with an out-of-memory error, Hearts of Iron IV struggles when I have a couple of browser windows open, browser tabs crash randomly, and the laptop sometimes freezes or turns black with only a few applications running. It also becomes very slow whenever I launch several programs. Could the virtualization settings, WSL, MuMu, page file, or another background process be causing this?

First, check Task Manager while the laptop is idle with no programs open. Look at memory usage and see whether MuMu, WSL, or another background process is consuming an unusually large amount. Also check CPU usage, since a process using excessive CPU and RAM could indicate a leak or malfunction.
Verify the Windows page file as well. Go to Advanced System Settings > Performance Settings > Advanced > Virtual Memory and make sure it is enabled and set to automatic management, preferably on the main SSD. A slow or misconfigured page file can make the system extremely sluggish when physical RAM is full, although it usually would not be the only reason applications crash. If idle memory usage looks normal, temporarily remove or disable background software—especially the emulator—and test whether the crashes continue.
