I've had a pre-built PC for a few years, but recently it started acting up and slowing down. When I checked the diagnostics, I was shocked to see that my CPU temperature was crazy high, around 207 degrees while idle! I cleaned out the dust and applied new thermal paste, which helped a little, but now it's still sitting between 180-190 degrees. Am I missing something here? What else can I do to resolve this issue?

High temps like that can definitely be concerning. You might also want to check if your CPU is overclocked; if it is, try resetting it to default settings. Another thing is to verify that your thermal paste is applied evenly and not too thick - that can sometimes cause issues too.
It sounds like you've done some good troubleshooting already! Make sure your CPU cooler is properly secured and that there’s good airflow in your case. Check if the cooler is compatible with your Ryzen 5 5600X. If you still have high temps, consider getting a more efficient cooler. Also, make sure your case fans are working to enhance airflow!
