I use an iPad with Notability to teach. I start an iOS screen recording with the microphone enabled while also AirPlaying the lesson to my classroom TV. This lets me record the full note-taking session and share it with students who were absent. For several months, the audio and video have gradually stopped matching. In one recording, everything was synced at first, but after about 15 minutes the audio jumped ahead or the screen appeared to freeze. In two other recordings, the audio began roughly three minutes into the lesson even though the video started at the beginning. The same issue is happening on another teacher's nearly new iPad, and both problems began around late winter or early spring 2026. We have already restarted the iPads, closed apps, cleared memory, and confirmed that the devices are used only for this purpose. What could be causing this, and is there a reliable fix?

This may be related to a Notability or iCloud change rather than the iPad hardware, especially since the problem started around the same time on two devices. Make sure Notability is fully updated, confirm its iCloud Drive access if applicable, and try turning Notability’s iCloud syncing off and back on before restarting the device. Also check whether recording audio directly inside Notability works more reliably than using the system screen recorder, although converting that recording into a shareable video may not be straightforward.

The iPad is no longer connected to an Apple account, although I had the same issue when it was using iCloud. I’ll still check the app and syncing settings. I also hadn’t been recording directly inside Notability, but I’m not sure how to turn those audio recordings into videos I can share with students.
