I recently upgraded to an RTX 5060 Ti, but it rarely reaches full utilization while gaming. I already used DDU to reinstall the graphics drivers and even reset my PC, but the behavior has not changed. In games, my Ryzen 5 5600 often sits near 100% usage while the GPU stays around 50–70%. I'm usually playing at 1080p. Could the processor be limiting the graphics card, and what should I check or change?

Test the card separately with a demanding GPU benchmark such as 3DMark Steel Nomad, Time Spy, Superposition, or FurMark. Those should generally drive the GPU close to full usage. Also check the game’s resolution, quality settings, frame limiter, V-Sync, and upscaling options, since low internal resolutions can leave the CPU as the limiting component.
Before buying anything, try increasing the resolution or graphics quality, or raise the render scale. That shifts more work to the GPU and can show whether the card is functioning normally. It may reduce your frame rate, but higher GPU utilization by itself is not the goal if the game is already running well.
The PCIe generation on your AM4 platform is unlikely to be the main problem here; that card should still perform normally on a compatible PCIe slot. If CPU usage is unusually high even outside the game, check Task Manager for background processes and run a malware scan, but high CPU usage during a CPU-limited game is not automatically evidence of a virus.
If the CPU is consistently maxed out while the GPU has unused capacity, that game and those settings are probably CPU-limited. This is especially common at 1080p with a faster graphics card. A newer AM4 processor, such as a Ryzen 7 5700X3D if you can find one at a reasonable price, would likely improve the situation.
The 5700X3D or 5800X3D should be capable upgrades, but availability and pricing can make them difficult to justify.
It would help to know which games you’re playing, the display resolution, graphics settings, and whether a frame cap or upscaler is enabled.
