I've heard that around 6000 MT/s with CL30 is a good balance of performance and stability for DDR5, especially on some Ryzen systems. If I buy a memory kit rated for 6400 MT/s but configure it to run at 6000 MT/s, should it generally be stable? Is instability mainly caused by the memory speed itself, or does it depend more on the CPU's integrated memory controller, motherboard, BIOS, and the memory kit?

Some 6400 kits can run at 6400 without crashing in everyday use but still produce errors in longer stress tests. Dropping to 6000 can provide enough headroom for tighter timings and better real-world stability, and it may even benchmark faster than running the kit at its rated speed with looser settings. Run a bootable memory test or another extended stability test rather than relying only on whether the system starts normally.
