I'm planning to pair an RTX 5070 12GB with a Ryzen 7 5700X3D for gaming at 1080p. I know the graphics card is more than enough for this resolution, but I can't afford a 1440p monitor yet. I've heard that 1080p puts more pressure on the CPU and that this processor might not be a good match for the RTX 5070. Would the performance difference be significant or noticeable, or is the bottleneck concern being exaggerated?

You can absolutely use it with a 1080p display. If your monitor has a high refresh rate, the extra GPU power can help you reach high frame rates. You could also try DLDSR in supported games to render internally at a higher resolution and downsample to 1080p for a sharper image.
There is always some component that limits performance first, whether it’s the CPU, GPU, memory, or a frame-rate cap. That doesn’t automatically mean there’s a problematic bottleneck. With this processor and graphics card, any limitation at 1080p should be minor and game-dependent.
That combination should be perfectly fine at 1080p. The 5700X3D is still a strong gaming CPU, and any limitation would generally be small or only show up in a few particularly CPU-heavy games. If you’re getting the frame rates you want, there’s nothing to worry about.
The system will handle 1440p well too whenever you upgrade your monitor. At higher resolutions the graphics card usually becomes the limiting component, while 1080p can expose CPU limits more easily. Even so, this is a well-balanced setup rather than an obviously mismatched one.

Exactly. CPU usage often drops as resolution increases because the GPU has more work to do, but a 5700X3D should still be able to feed an RTX 5070 effectively at either resolution.
