I'm a systems administrator, but I don't manage our Microsoft 365 backend. I sent someone a private Teams message and deleted it about an hour later. Our organization has email notifications enabled for missed Teams messages, so I'm wondering whether the recipient could still receive the message content by email even though it no longer appears in Teams. Is the email notification generated immediately, or does deleting the Teams message also remove it from the pending notification?

The exact behavior depends on the recipient’s Teams notification settings. Some organizations send immediate emails, while others send delayed or missed-activity summaries. If the notification had already been queued or delivered, deleting the Teams message generally won’t remove the copy from the recipient’s mailbox.
Yes, the recipient may still receive it. If Teams already generated or sent the email notification, deleting the message usually won’t retract that email. The message should disappear from the Teams conversation, but the notification may still contain a preview or the full text depending on your organization’s notification settings.
Deleting the message doesn’t necessarily erase every organizational copy. Depending on retention, eDiscovery, or compliance policies, the message could still be discoverable by authorized administrators even after it disappears from the chat.
If you have access to the appropriate Microsoft 365 message-tracking or audit tools, an administrator could check whether a notification email was sent. A regular systems administrator may not have permission to view those logs, though.

I probably should have acted faster, but that answers my question. Thanks for confirming.
