A friend left me a PC that was mainly built for office work, and I'm considering upgrading it with a Radeon 9060 XT 16GB to play at 1440p on a Samsung Odyssey G5 2K 180Hz monitor. The current parts are: Core Ultra 5 225 processor, MSI H810M Gaming WiFi 6E motherboard, 32GB of TeamGroup DDR5-5600 CL46 RAM without heat spreaders, Deepcool CC550 case with four fans, Patriot 1TB NVMe SSD, Ant Esports VS600L 600W power supply, and a Thermalright 120mm single-fan CPU cooler. Will the motherboard, power supply, and CPU cooler handle the graphics card? Are the RAM modules safe without heat spreaders, and would this system be suitable for 1440p gaming? I'm also considering replacing the power supply with an MSI 850W Gold unit and possibly using a more powerful 9070-class card instead.

The RAM does not need heat spreaders to work safely. They mainly help with physical protection and heat dissipation, and DDR5-5600 generally does not produce enough heat for them to be essential. CL46 is relatively slow for DDR5, but it is still usable and should not prevent gaming. If the system is stable, there is no urgent reason to replace it.
The motherboard and processor should be perfectly capable of running a modern graphics card, since the GPU uses a standard PCIe slot. The CPU cooler should also be adequate for the Core Ultra 5 as long as it is properly mounted and temperatures are normal. The biggest concern is the power supply, not the motherboard. I would avoid relying on an unfamiliar 600W unit for a gaming GPU, especially if it is close to the card’s minimum recommended wattage. A good-quality 750W or 850W Gold-rated supply would be a safer upgrade, depending on the exact graphics card model.
A 9060 XT 16GB should be a reasonable match for 1440p gaming. Expect good results around 60 FPS or higher in many games, although demanding titles may need settings or ray tracing reduced. The 180Hz monitor can display up to 180 Hz, but the GPU will not reach that refresh rate in every modern AAA game. A 9070-class card would provide more performance, but it will draw more power, so pair it with a reputable PSU sized for the specific card rather than choosing based only on wattage.
