Windows 11 update failure and missing printer settings

I'm using Windows 11 and have been dealing with three related problems for several days. First, the 2026-09 Security Update (KB5129195, build 26200.9457) repeatedly fails with error 0x80070002. Windows downloads it, requests a restart, and then shows the same installation error afterward. Manually downloading and installing the update did not help either.

Second, I installed a Ricoh IM C3510 network copier on my company's LAN. It appears under Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, and I can print to it from Word and PDF applications. However, Windows only shows a three-dot menu with Remove; I cannot open Printer properties or Printing preferences to change defaults such as black-and-white printing or paper size. The printer responds to ping, so the network connection appears to be working.

Third, my Epson LQ-300+II dot-matrix printer, which connects by USB, disappeared from working condition. It still appears in the printer list, but shows an Error status and cannot be used. Reinstalling its driver produces the message: "Unable to find a core driver package that is required by the printer driver package." Any advice on where to start would be appreciated.

For update error 0x80070002, start with the Windows Update troubleshooter, then clear and rebuild the Windows Update cache. Stop the Windows Update and Background Intelligent Transfer services, rename the SoftwareDistribution and catroot2 folders, restart those services, and try the update again. It is also worth running DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth followed by sfc /scannow from an elevated Terminal. If the update still fails, check the installation logs or perform an in-place repair using current Windows 11 installation media rather than repeatedly installing the standalone package.

For the Epson, remove the old device and its driver package completely before reinstalling. Open Print Management if available, go to Printer Servers > your computer > Drivers, and remove the Epson driver package. You can also use the Print Server Properties window from the Printers & scanners area. Then disconnect the USB cable, restart the Print Spooler service or reboot, install the correct Windows 11-compatible Epson driver, and reconnect the printer when the installer requests it. The core driver package error usually means Windows has a damaged, incomplete, or mismatched driver package already registered.

The Ricoh issue may be caused by how the printer was installed or by permissions managed through your company’s print server. Being able to ping it and print only confirms basic connectivity; it doesn’t guarantee that your account can change driver or device defaults. Check whether it was added through the company’s approved print server or as a standard TCP/IP printer, and ask whoever manages printing to grant access to Printer properties or deploy the correct Ricoh driver and defaults. Also check the printer’s Printing preferences from the application’s print dialog, since Windows Settings does not always expose every vendor option for newer drivers.

It is a Ricoh IM C3510 on the company LAN. I can ping it and print successfully, but Windows still does not show Printer properties or preferences. I’ll check with the print administrator about the driver and permissions.
